HR Ledger’s customer focus has deep roots in our philosophy. We work with business service professionals like insurance and pension brokers and HR and business consultants – so your first contact with us may come from someone who is already a trusted advocate. We provide you with a personal payroll specialist so you have a consistent contact who is familiar with you and your needs. If you elect the Benefits Administration option you are also assigned a personal Benefits Specialist.

In addition, we provide you with HR support. Our in-house HR professionals respond to your routine HR questions by phone, fax, email, or mail. When necessary they will research a question to provide a more authoritative and up-to-date response. For onsite HR support, policy making, handbooks, recruiting, etc., we coordinate our service with our strategic partner HR consulting firms.

President & CEO

Malcolm brings more than 40 years of experience building, marketing and operating businesses to HR Ledger®. After serving as the Chief Technology Officer for 8 years, he became the CEO. As CFO Malcolm was instrumental in design, project management, and deployment of an integrated Benefits Administration engine.

He came to HR Ledger, Inc. with more than 11 years of experience in the Employer Benefits market. As a partner and co-founder of ÆGIS PACIFIC Insurance Service, Malcolm collaborated in the development, planning and execution of a prototype marketing and sales program for Blue Shield of California. ÆGIS PACIFIC went from a start-up to the top producing small group brokerage for Blue Shield of California in less than 18 months. After several years, as Blue Shield’s top producer, ÆGIS PACIFIC became Blue Shield’s first Statewide General Agency. He has received a number of production awards as a top producer of employer benefit products. His primary business focus has been integrating new technologies with sales and marketing programs.

Malcolm came to the Employer Benefits field as a marketing consultant. He was in partnership in a firm specializing in helping Doctors, Chiropractors, Dentists and Insurance Agents improve their marketing and profitability. Prior to consulting, he spent more than 17 years with Rescue Services, Inc., a national supplier of Paramedic Equipment and Supplies. During his tenure, he worked in marketing and operations. He was Vice-President of Operations when the company was sold.

He is a graduate of California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography specializing in Applied Computer Analysis and is a Graduate of the Jefferson Institute, Provo, Utah. He lives in Auburn, California with his wife. He has two daughters and enjoys antique railroad equipment restoration.

Vice President of Sales and Marketing

Scott is responsible for developing distribution networks for HR Ledger. He has successfully developed the approach and implementation of HR Ledger’s insurance agent/broker distribution network. He is currently working on developing a duplicable networking/lead generation plan that will allow new payroll sales reps to more quickly reach a sustainable and successful level of production.

As a co-founder and partner Scott helped develop and present a business plan and sales/marketing concept to a major California insurance corporation resulting in the funding of ÆGIS PACIFIC Insurance Service a General Agency. He helped build ÆGIS PACIFIC to become, within twelve months, one of the largest producers of health insurance policies for Blue Shield of California and continued in its management as it became a leader in its niche market. Scott was involved in all decision making, strategic planning, and financial decisions within the company and was responsible for the building and development of a state-wide sales representative force that enabled ÆGIS PACIFIC to greatly increase its production abilities.

Prior to ÆGIS PACIFIC Scott was the owner of Golden Cal Insurance He was responsible for the development of a direct mail program that produced, on average, thirty-eight homeowner’s policies and twenty-nine auto policies per month. Additionally he sold and serviced a book of business that grew to two-thousand homeowner accounts. In 1988 he moved the agency’s focus to the sales of medical insurance and became one of Blue Shield of California’s top ten producers for several years. Scott was asked to join, and served on Blue Shield’s Agent Advisory Council for three years.

Scott attended Cal Poly Pomona majoring in business administration and is a Life Underwriter Training Counsel Fellow. He lives in Irvine, California with his wife and enjoys photography, camping, and traveling with his family. Scott retired as a reserve Deputy/Homicide investigator from a large Southern California Sheriff’s Department.
